Like most people, I was apathetic to what is happening to the world and our environment. After all I live a comfortable life, have a busy schedule with family, work, and other stuff, recycle, pay my share of taxes, and the list goes on …
But deep inside, I could not deny the fact that the path we are on is not sustainable. The writing is on the wall that global warming is upon us and our activities are causing it. It is pretty evident that doing business, as usual, is not the way forward and big changes are needed to restore the health of our planet and its people.
Where to begin? This is such a complex and big challenge. I am not qualified – I do not have education or training. Heck, even my kids, siblings and friends make fun of my twisted Filipino-English accent. What right do I have to instigate such big change such as stopping environmental degradation but also making the planet and people thrive in harmony.
On the other hand, isn’t doing nothing equally the same as causing the problem to thrive? I believe that humans are gifted with the intellect and creativity to solve these problems. Do we want our (grand) kids to ask us later why the F*#% did we not do enough to protect our one and only planet?
The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing – Albert Einstein
So I am coming out of my sheltered closet, let go of my insecurities and become an awesome steward of the earth. The buck stops with me. ‘I’ take responsibility to take care of our one and only planet and the people around me. My actions will not be perfect but if taken consistently with good intention actions of others will make a dent, then a crack, then a difference. I am committed to doing what I can to live this world a better place for my children and their children.
Postings will be made on this page for actionable solutions that we can do now to restore our planet’s health and its inhabitants. Individual actions taken together become an unstoppable force for good.
Thanks for joining me!
